 Daniel McIntyre Spence Neighbourhood Grant Program – classes ended December 11, 2025.

Mary Jane’s Cooking School provided 8 cooking classes plus a graduation ceremony for 11 participants including people from Vietnam, South Korea, Philippines and Métis.

One of the women had never cooked before and her brother would cook for her. She experienced cooking for herself and developed the confidence needed to prepare her own food.

At the beginning of each class Mary Jane provided a soup and cheese sandwiches, sliced oranges and cookies. During this course we prepared granola, cauliflower and carrot slaw, chili, shepherd’s pie, baked chicken and rice casserole, beef stew, pizza and muffins. The participants shared their knowledge from each cultural group and cheerfully helped each other.​​​​​
